Ryan Boyd

I’m a Mitchell, South Dakota native and partner at Boyd Financial Services. I work with individuals and families to help them make confident, well informed financial decisions, especially during important life transitions.

Before entering financial planning, I spent nearly a decade in funeral service, working at Bittner Funeral Chapel and Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City, and serving as Deputy Coroner for Davison and Hanson Counties. That experience still shapes how I approach this work today. It taught me the value of empathy, clarity, and helping people make thoughtful decisions during important moments.

I earned my degree in Psychology and Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of South Dakota and was honored as part of USD’s 30 Under 30 in 2019. I later attended Mortuary College at Des Moines Area Community College and became a licensed funeral director.

Today, I serve as Chief Investment Officer and Operations Manager at Boyd Financial Services. I hold Series 7, Series 66, and insurance licenses and have completed the Advanced Planning Educational Group’s Foundations of Financial Planning course.

Community involvement has always been important to me. I serve on the board of the Mitchell Area Development Corporation and am an active member of the Mitchell Lions Club, where I previously served as President, as well as the Mitchell Masonic Lodge and El Riad Shrine Club.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Erika, and our children, Arthur and Kathryn. I am a private pilot and spend a lot of my free time flying. I also enjoy pheasant hunting, playing piano, boating, cooking, and brewing beer.
